The Ride or Die Tournament
The Ride or Die Tournament is an illegal street racing tournament in which teams of racers compete in various races. The tournament takes place once every few years, announced through word-of-mouth, in locations only revealed to the street racing community.
Each team is made up of a number of racers with their own skill sets and strengths. These strengths are categorized in four roles: Drifters, Sprinters, Jumpers, and Weavers. Racers are chosen by their team to participate in each race based on their strengths. Drifters for tracks that call for drifting, Sprinters for straight-aways, Jumpers for off-road tracks, and Weavers for tracks with many obstacles on the road.
Races take place at night over several weeks, four races in total + tryouts. Teams are paired up bracket style, one team vs. one team at a time. Each car that crosses the track’s finish line gets points based on their placement. Points can also be accumulated with tricks and a show of impressive driving skills. The points and winners are decided by the tournament hosts.
The last race between the remaining two teams is called the Cannonball, which is a long distance race. Only one racer from each teams participates. No rules, just get to the end before your opponent.
The Burning Saints
The Burning Saints is a group of anonymous, masked members led by a mysterious man known only as Salvatore. They appear to be a religious movement, meeting after dark in a large church on a hill overlooking the city. The initiation ceremony for new disciples involves initiates vowing to submit to Salvatore’s will. Blood is then drawn from the hand of the initiate, and consumed by Salvatore, completing the ceremony.
